About

Why this site exists

An independent, non-commercial memory project about a vanishing quarter.

What this is

This is an unofficial website about Kubinka. We gather its history from open sources and from people's memories — because the quarter has no museum page of its own, and is itself disappearing.

How we handle the facts

We separate the confirmed from the legendary. Folk etymology, folklore, and journalistic judgements are presented as such, and disputed details are flagged directly in the text. If you know the exact source or have spotted an error, please write to us.

Did you live in Kubinka, visit the flea market, remember a courtyard or your neighbours? Tell us — we want to preserve these voices.

This is a demonstration form — messages are not yet being sent.

Sources

The main sources include the Azerbaijani Wikipedia, local-history resources (azerhistory.com, "Our Baku" / ourbaku.com), and reports by independent outlets on the 2023-2024 demolition.
